# StemCut

> StemCut is a free desktop application for macOS and Windows that separates any song into individual stems (Vocals, Drums, Bass, Other) using Meta AI's Demucs model. Everything runs locally on your machine — no account, no subscription, no data sent to any server.

## What it does

StemCut takes any audio file (MP3, WAV, FLAC) or a YouTube URL and splits it into 4 separate audio tracks using AI:

- **Vocals** — the lead and backing vocals
- **Drums** — the full drum kit
- **Bass** — bass guitar or bass synth
- **Other** — all remaining instruments (guitar, piano, synths, etc.)

Once separated, each stem can be independently controlled (volume, mute, solo) in a built-in 4-track mixer, then exported individually or as a complete DAW-ready pack.

## Technology

Powered by [Demucs](https://github.com/facebookresearch/demucs), Meta AI's open-source stem separation model — one of the most accurate models available. The model runs entirely on the user's CPU/GPU. No internet connection required after installation.
